The year is 2278. Nicky Jacobs works as an exotic dancer in a massive megalopolis known as Galileo City. She is every man's fantasy woman, and she leads a life of pure decadence and indulgence until one evening, she unknowingly becomes the subject of an evil experiment - an experiment that will change her forever.
Afterwards, she notices unexplainable physical changes in herself shortly before she is engulfed by excruciating pain. She meets and confronts a stranger named Ketta - a mysterious individual who is tormented by a very dark past. He subdues her, and takes her away to a secret fortress, hidden deep in the mountains.
After waking many days later, Nicky realizes that although she still appears human, she is anything but. She is now a virtually indestructable being - an immortal. She soon learns that she is not alone, and that there are hundreds of thousands of beings like herself and Ketta all over the world, living, working, and operating in a secret and technologically wondrous world right under the nose of the human world. She also learns that not only is there an impending war for the control of the Earth between two factions of these beings, but there is an impending alien invasion that threatens all of humanity as well.
Nicky now has to learn to deal with this new life she has been thrown into, as well as find her strength to fight in the war for the salvation of humankind, while Ketta must wrestle with the pain of his past, and come to terms with himself. Together the two of them will learn what it is to love, to lose, to kill, and to become warriors of the dark - The NightOnes.
